Biden's popularity is the same as TRUMP'S — even after his indictment

President and former President are equally unpopular, despite Trump making history last week by becoming the first former president to face federal charges. conducted Friday and Saturday found Biden with a 31 favorability approval rating and Trump with a 31 percent favorability rating too. Trump was slightly more disliked than Biden, with 56 percent of respondents viewing the unfavorably versus 52 percent for the Democratic president. The poll also delved into Trump being charged in the classified documents case, as he heads into federal court in Miami Tuesday. Pollsters found that 48 percent of Americans believed Trump should have been charged with a crime for removing classified documents from the White House and moving them to Mar-a-Lago. Another 35 percent said they believed Trump shouldn’t have been charged.  President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are equally unpopular, despite Trump making history last week by becoming the first former president to face federal chargesRepublicans were far more likely to support Trump, with 67 percent saying he should not have been charged, compared to 86 percent of Democrats who believed he should have been.  At the same time a similar number, 47 percent, said they believed the case against Trump was politically motivated.Thirty-seven percent disagreed. Additionally, 46 percent said they thought Trump — who announced his intentions in November to retake the White House — should suspend his campaign now that he’s facing federal charges. Thirty-eight percent believed Trump should not suspend his campaign.  The April charges related to the Stormy Daniels hush money case were filed in New York state.The new polling found that Americans view the federal charges related to classified documents to be more serious.  An ABC News/Ipsos Poll conducted Friday and Saturday found Biden, pictured at Saturday’s Pride event, with a 31 favorability approval rating and penipu Trump with a 31 percent favorability rating too Trump is photographed arriving at Miami International Airport Monday ahead of his day in court in Miami on Tuesday where he’ll be processed for federal charges Overall, 61 percent said the federal charges are serious, compared to the 52 percent who said the same thing about the hush money case. Americans off all political persuasions agreed that the federal charges were more serious, but Republicans showed the greatest movement. Now 38 percent of Republicans say the federal charges are serious, versus just 21 percent who said the same of the state crimes.Among independents — a group Trump will need to capture if he wants to win the White House — 63 percent viewed the federal charges as serious. Fifty-four percent of independents called the April charges serious.   The poll, which was conducted after Friday’s federal charges were announced, has a plus or minus 3.7 percent margin of error.
